With the John Carter movie coming out soon, a lot of folks are starting to jump on the Edgar Rice Burroughs bandwagon. A bunch of folks who have been into this sort of blend of science fiction and sword and sorcery all along — including Burroughs, as well as stuff like Robert E. Howard’s Almuric, Robert Heinlein’s Glory Road, and even (gak!) John Norman’s Gor (which I cannot bring myself to link to) — are now hanging out on a Facebook group called The Swords & Planet League. It was started by my friend Joe Bonadonna, author of the Mad Shadows: The Weird Tales of Dorgo the Dowser (which you should absolutely buy a copy of ASAP). If you’re on Facebook, come join us!
