Starting today my thoughts on ministry will be part of a separate blog, which I’m calling Another Voice.
I’m doing this for a number of reasons. First among these is that I have plans for what I want to do with my voice in ministry, and over time that will require its own space. It was time to start laying some foundation and developing that space, rather than crowding this one. Just as Asparagus Jumpsuit, my publishing company, has moved to its own site because it’s a business, I want Another Voice to have a more professional presence. You don’t get that from being one facet of a personal blog.
The second is a matter of respecting reader interests. A large number of readers come to this site just for my ministry-related posts; an equally large number of readers come for everything but. As a wise Amish leader once said, we’re not called to hide our light under a bushel, but we don’t have to shine it in peoples’ faces. I don’t ever want anyone to be uncomfortable in this space due to my faith, or anyone of faith to be uncomfortable as a result of my secular pursuits.
Those concerned about my “projectitis” needn’t be worried. Asparagus Jumpsuit is very much my day job, and as a business needs its own site. Another Voice will be a weekly, rather than daily, venture for now, with new posts appropriately appearing on Sunday. This site will continue to evolve on its own as a directory of various things going on in my life, and as a source of behind-the-scenes woolgathering on the assorted projects I’m involved in.
