The Connections Between Learning, Virtue, and Action

“Learning is not Virtue but a means to bring us to an acquaintance with it. Integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and Knowledge without integrity is dangerous and Dreadful. Let these be your motives to action through Life, the relief of the distress, the detection of frauds, the defeat of oppression, and diffusion of happiness.” – Gen. Nathanael Green, George Washington’s second in command during the American Revolution, two-fisted Quaker, and self-educated businessman.

There is a ton of wisdom in that quote. It reflects tons of things aren’t currently priorities in the American education system and can’t be measured on a standardized test.
