“Change is not a bolt of lightning that arrives with a zap. It is a bridge built brick by brick, every day, with sweat and humility and slips. It is hard work, and slow work, but it can be thrilling to watch it take shape.” -Sarah Hepola
Yesterday I talked about habit, and this follows that same line of thought. The old title of the “productivity” column on this site was “Eating the Elephant”, taken from the lame joke. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!
There’s also an element of patience involved as well. I have goals and benchmarks for where I want Asparagus Jumpsuit to be. I’m nowhere near there, yet. Yet I know where I started, and I know how far I’ve come. I have a white board where I track certain things — the number of products we’ve produced, the number of followers we have on social media, some other behind-the-scenes things, and yes, sales. I see where we are in relation to where we started, and how far we still have to go, but it is, indeed, exciting to watch it unfold.
