The concept is simple: All good things accrue slowly. You do not become an expert overnight, but by practicing and learning and doing a little bit every day. Rarely will you get rich overnight, but by working every day and saving a little at a time, you can do okay. We live in a culture, though, that doesn’t appreciate the “slow and steady” method. We want instant gratification. We have no patience. That’s why so many people are deeply in credit card debt. That’s why so many people never achieve their dreams. We want to be world-famous overnight, for nothing we’ve actually accomplished. We can all do better.
