During the month of August, I’m participating in RPG a Day 2017. Each day I’ll answer a question, or my interpretation of a question, about tabletop roleplaying games. For those who have wanted your beloved UncleBear to get back into RPG blogging, this is the closest you’re going to get.
What Do You Anticipate Most for Gaming in 2018?
This is where I need to be completely self-serving and state that I’m looking forward to the things that I plan to write and publish in 2018. I have slowly been learning more with each new book and each new launch. There are projects that I have been building toward, as I’ve developed business infrastructure and honed my own abilities. A lot is hopefully going to come to fruition for me in 2018, as I move into Phase 3 of a 5-part plan that I developed in business school.
I’m loving what I’m doing with design and mechanics. I’m finally digging more into creating settings and storytelling structures. There are processes in place now that I didn’t have when I launched Dancing Lights Press last year. I’ve got a much better sense of what I’m doing, and I know what I need to work on. I’ve always had a clear vision of what I want this company to be and what I want my career to look like.
Which is really all that I’d like for everyone in terms of gaming in 2018: that everyone will be having fun and enjoying what they’re doing. It doesn’t matter what games they’re playing, as long as they’re playing. I don’t care how people play, in terms of genre or setting or mechanics or style of play, as long as they’re enjoying themselves. But if more people are buying, talking about, and playing my games in 2018, that would be really cool.
