There are things that I want to say through this blog, and to some degree I’ve been starting to say them. But there are also reasons why I’m holding back. Here are 3 reasons why my blogging is a disaster.
1. My Area of Expertise is Me
Who the hell wants to read about me? I mean, seriously? Most of my friends don’t even read this blog, so why would total strangers? There are things that I could talk about that actually could be interesting, like dealing with my anxiety disorder and living in Finland, but I don’t for… reasons. The reasons I hold back would probably make for fascinating reading too, but I’m currently too self-conscious and, well, did I mention that I have an anxiety disorder?
2. My Area of Interests are Dangerous
I am not going to write about politics or religion in a public space. I am not going to write about politics or religion in a public space. Am I going to write about politics or religion in a public space? No, I am not going to write about politics or religion in a public space, and I am not going to write about politics or religion in a public space. Because I have no interest in arguing with trolls.
3. The Space Between Those Two is Trivia
What else is there to talk about? TV shows? Celebrity gossip? What I ate for lunch today? Even if people were interested in reading about that, I have absolutely no desire to write it. Social media is literally inundated with that stuff. I have no expertise in those areas, at least no more than any other consumer, and I don’t feel that I have some unique perspective or am entitled to an exceptional amount of attention regarding my opinions in those areas.
I’m planning out content that I think will be compelling, informative, and representative of who I am. It’s all firmly rooted in the first point, so this blog is going to be all about me. A lot of what’s coming will be me trying to share more, talking about my issues, and detailing the steps that i’m trying to take to fix those issues. There will be posts about bullet journaling, minimalism, Buddhism, and more. This is a vanity/lifestlye blog about a middle aged man maintaining his mental health while pursuing his dreams.
