Here is a brief update on what’s going on with me right now. As I continue to find a better work/life balance and separate the personal from the professional, this will continue to change. For the moment, however, this is what my current reality looks like.
My Personal Spaces
This blog, aka Simplify – Create – Thrive, is very much my personal space. I’ll mention writing as part of the “create” part, but don’t expect me to spend much time plugging my current projects. I’m using it as an extension of my journalling and self-care routines, and I’m drawing post ideas from those. The things I share are hopefully useful and helpful to others. I’d like to foster more discussion with you, so I’m going to work on that more. Your feedback on how to do that is welcome.
I am on Twitter under my own name and more active than I have been in years. I use lists, rather than following a ton of people, to control the flow of what I see. I’ve been trying to engage with people more, add comments, and participate in discussions. Stop by, say hi! I do post professional things there on occassion, but it skews more toward personal.
When I find something interesting to take a picture of, I post it on Instagram. Most of the time I just use it to look at chihuahuas, drag queens, and out-of-context comic book panels. It’s more of a therapy app than a social network for me.
The Proof of Life podcast, available via YouTube and Patreon, is increasingly being driven by Katie. Even though it’s just my wife and I alone in a room with a live mic, in my head it’s social activity. People are listening, so I become self-conscious. As an introvert that’s draining, and lately I don’t always have the energy to spare.
My Professional Spaces
I’ll just point you to Dancing Lights Press and let you explore that on your own. The RPG blog over this is ramping up and will become a regularly scheduled thing by the end of this month. There’s a weekly newsletter that you can subscribe to. You can find links to purchase my books. I’ll mention it in passing once in a while within this space, but not as often. I love my job, but it’s my job, so it’s important that it be a separate thing and exist over there. Check it out, and follow my there if that aligns better with your interests than the content of this page.
