Berin Kinsman is a writer, simple-living minimalist, and accomplished curmudgeon. He is the founder and publisher at Dancing Lights Press, a lo-fi creative media company. There should probably be more to this biography, but he’s a private person. Attention should be paid to his work, he feels, and not to him. On the whole he finds parasocial relationships to be uncomfortable.
When he’s not writing or reading Berin enjoys cooking, visiting zoos and museums, and talking leisurely nature walks. He shares a home and studio space with his wife, the artist and art educator Katie Kinsman.
WHY MINIMALISM, DEFIANCE, AND INNER PEACE
Minimalism is about getting rid of the things you don’t need, in order to make space for the important things you truly need and want. This extends beyond material possessions to include stress, culture, and relationships. In an entertainment-focused, consumer-driven society, making these choices for yourself and rejecting the popular zeitgeist is an act of defiance. Standing up for yourself, and consciously choosing what you know to be the best course for your life, is the only way to achieve inner peace.
