If you expect my answer to be something other than “curl up with a good book”, you are going to be sorely disappointed. That’s clearly the best activity on a snow day. Put on some relaxing music, make a warm beverage, and find a warm, cozy spot to dive into a book.
Of course, thing being Finland, there are no snow days. If things shut down because of snow, the entire country would be closed most of the year. The saying is that there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. It could be -20°C with 30 centimeters of snow on the ground and kids will not only be in school, they’ll be going outside to play at recess. They’ll just be doing in in snowsuits.
I do think that my assessment about snow day activity is valid though. Finns are both avid readers and avid coffee drinkers. Bookstores are still a thing here, and libraries are both well-funded and heartily utilized. Even if you had to drag yourself to school and work through the snow, when you get home there’s still no better antidote to the cold and dark than a good read.
