I Should Delete This, But I Won’t

When I was off of the internet during election week, it was the happiest I’d been in a while.

The past several days have been pretty good, except when I’ve had to do social media for the business.

The longer I’m off Facebook, the harder it becomes to envision any scenario where I’d want or need to go back.

I have tons of data showing that Twitter, Instagram, and blogging don’t significantly impact my sales.

A few minutes ago I deleted some pre-written posts because writing things down and getting them out of my system was enough.

My original 2021 plan for the business site included writing posts and collecting them into a book; I could just write the book.

I’ve been reviewing everything I do and cutting out anything that does not serve a clear purpose.

I’m contemplating what it would be like to have no public presence on the internet, and just write and publish books.

While I’ve talked about going full hermit for years, I haven’t because I feared it was an expression of my anxiety and depression.

I think I have enough data points to show that the cost of having a public presence on the internet outweighs the benefits.

For some reason I feel I need to mull this over and come up with a clear exit strategy.
