Shorter and More Off-the-Cuff

For the most part I’m going back to writing these posts daily. That means they’re going to be shorter and more off-the-cuff. I’m going to have a couple of filler posts in my back pocket, for those occasions when I know I won’t be able to get something out on a particular day. I’m definitely done trying to craft well-considered series.

As for the elephant in the room, I’ll celebrate when the lying tangerine gasbag and his gang of fascist grifters are out of the power on 20 January. I almost wrote “out of the building” but I don’t expect them to leave voluntarily. I don’t trust those gaslighting shit-stirrers and their deranged gun-fondling cultists to not try something stupid and dangerous between now and inauguration day. He’s already preparing delusional “victory rallies” and his herd are 100% on board with the conspiracy theories. This isn’t over.

Laundry and Groceries, Woohoo

This morning I got up early to do laundry. I’ve pontificated on the way things work here before. No coin-op machines. You book time slots for washers and driers online, and head down to the laundry room at the designated hour. I long ago developed a habit of booking things first thing in the morning, as soon as the laundry room opens. That allows me to avoid the clueless foreign students who ignore all of the signs about the booking system, and cram their dirty clothes into any machine that’s unoccupied. Covid has stopped the flow of new exchange students, so at least temporarily it’s not an issue. I still like having the routine.

After breakfast we’ll go grocery shopping. It’s a pleasant 2 kilometer walk down to the shopping center. We’ll hop the bus back, since we’ll have bags to carry. I like going early on a weekday, especially here in the pandemic era, since there are fewer people about.

This afternoon it’s back to editing, and dealing with whatever else comes up.

Shorter and More Off-the-Cuff

Yes, this has been a pretty boring update. It’s refreshing, isn’t it? I have no intention of talking about laundry and grocery shopping each and every Tuesday. Give me a chance to ease into this new format, okay? There’s something appealing about having a short post, though. Nothing is going on, so here’s me just checking in to say yup, I’m alive and working on the next book.

Have a great day, and I’ll see you again tomorrow.
